Vitamin E
Vitamin E is one of the most potent antioxidants, and is unquestionably of great value to the circulatory system. One study showed that it decreased oxidation of bad cholesterol by 40 percent. It decreases risk of heart attack and stroke. At least 100 units daily prevents heart disease. It increases immune function, helps the body fight cancer, retards the onset of cataracts, helps relieve arthritic symptoms, and significantly slows down ‘brain aging’. Vitamin E, when taken with selenium can improve mood and cognitive function in the elderly.
Green Tea
Green Tea can be helpful in three ways: It is a powerful antioxidant. Green tea leaf contains a powerful antioxidant element, which is a proven to stop cells from becoming cancerous. It prevents prostate cancer. It is a rich source of ‘flavonoids’, which reduces the risk of stroke, and it contains caffeine, which if used cautiously, enhances cognition.
Drinking with meals
Drinking with meals: No water/carbonic drink should be taken when digestion is going on in the stomach. It will dilute the digestive juice and impair digestion. You can take a glassful of water half an hour after you have finished your meals.
Constipation
Constipation: If the bowels are constipated, have vigorous practice of Salabha, Bhujanga and Dhanur Asanas (yoga postures) for 5 minutes as soon as you get up from bed. If you are habituated to answer the call of nature, late, you can do so after finishing the Yogic exercises. Drink two glasses of hot water, before tea, early in the morning. It is preferable to take hot water instead of cold water during the day.
Leg Muscles/Knee Joints
Leg Muscles/Knee Joints: In order to keep leg-calf muscles in good strong shape, to prevent leg cramping and to keep knee joints flexible and mobile, massage the leg portion from knee to the end of the leg with mustard oil daily morning. If there is pain in knee, add turmeric powder in the oil, heat it and massage 3-4 times/day. Also, rye seeds in mustard oil help in massage. Rye seeds in food also help in knee pain problem.
Prevent cold
Prevent cold: Early morning, when you get up from bed and wash your face, do not blow your nose, just put the first three fingers (index, middle and ring fingers) in the mouth right up to the throat (as far inside as possible) rub the fingers on the tongue and take the mucus out. Do it 3-4 times till you feel, the chest and nose are clear. Make it a habit. Your voice will also remain young.
Avoid Urinary Problems
Avoid Urinary Problems: In order to avoid old age urinary problems, make it a habit to pass urine after every meal of the day.
Strengthening of bones
Strengthening of bones: Early morning, eat some sesame seeds. They strengthen the bones of the body. Massage the body with mustard oil at least once a week.
Elimination of fatigue
Elimination of fatigue: One recent study found that 10 minutes of moderate exercise daily could improve mood and reduce fatigue. (H.T.City 22/10/01)
Stomach Exercise
Stomach Exercise: Standing in front of a chair, bend forward and grasp the seat for support. Exhale the breath completely. While the breath is expelled, draw in the abdomen as near the backbone as possible. Then inhale while you push out the abdomen as far as possible. Repeat 12 times.
Toning up stomach
Toning up stomach: The best exercise for the stomach is to get into the habit of straightening your shoulders and pulling in your stomach muscles. Contract the muscles in your stomach and abdomen area, hold it like that for 5-10 seconds or longer and then relax. A few minutes later, repeat the same and keep repeating as many times as possible throughout the day. Please do not hold your breath; only hold the muscles in that area. This is called, “Tighten Tummy” and is the most efficient as it can be done throughout the day while sitting, standing, walking, and talking, at work or play.
Back Pain
Back Pain: (results from an exaggerated inward curvature of lower spine-Lumbago): Lumber stretch exercises help in relieving the pain. Stretching your extremities, neck and back in the morning will help you become a lot more mobile-Stand erect and place your hands on your lower back. Bend backward slightly by lifting your chest up and out. Hold, then relax and repeat. Now slowly increase your stretch by tilting your head back and leaning backward as far as comfortable. Hold the position for just a moment. Now slowly raise your head, then your body so that you are standing erect again. Maintain a good posture when sitting, standing or sleeping. If sitting has to be continuous, stand up every ½-1 hr.& relax. (Master)
Importance of Exercise/Stretching
Importance of Exercise/Stretching: Scientists have revealed that your body ages faster when you do not exercise. If you exercise regularly, you will slow your body’s aging process. As you age, your body’s store of calcium is slowly depleted. This may lead to “OSTEOPOROSIS” and can cause many serious problems from bone fractures to a dowager’s hump. But exercise, especially weight bearing such as Walking, can help your bones become stronger and less susceptible to injury. Exercise keeps your muscles from shortening and tightening, so you can move more easily. It makes your heart and muscles stronger and your body more flexible. In addition, exercise often keeps arthritis, from progressing and can be used to control such life-threatening problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Teeth/Gum Problems
Teeth/Gum Problems: Put half teaspoon of rock salt (sendha namak) on the palm of your hand and add 1 teaspoon of mustard oil (sarson ka tel) to it. Mix well. Every night before going to bed, massage the gums gently with this oil. Then rub over the left over paste on the teeth lightly and immediately wash the mouth. If possible gargle a few times with warm water. By cleaning the teeth with this for a few days continuously almost all tooth problems, like sensitivity to hot, cold or sour food, weak teeth, germs causing, toothache, swelling of gums and bleeding of gums are cured.
Teeth Exercise
Teeth Exercise: (excellent for long lasting): With your eyes closed, clench the upper and lower teeth on the left side of your jaw. Relax, and then clench the teeth on the right side. Relax, and then clench the front teeth. Finally, clench all the upper and lower teeth simultaneously. Hold each position for 1 or 2 minutes, concentrating on the ‘clenched teeth’ sensation and visualizing the life energy as vitalizing the roots of the teeth and removing all inharmonious conditions. Improving the eyesight
Improving the eyesight: Concentrate with closed eyes on the medulla oblongata, and then feel the power of vision in the eyes flowing through the optic nerve into the retina. After concentrating for a minute on the retina, open and close your eyes a few times. Turn the eyeballs upward and then downward; then to the left, then to the right. Then move them from left to right, and right to left. Fix your gaze on the spot between the eyebrows, visulizing the flow of life energy from the medulla oblongata into the eyes, transforming them into two searchlights. Eye Problems
Eye Problems: The best remedy is: take 100 grams of rose water in a glass jar or vessel, add 10-15 grams of dry amlas, leave it for 48 hours, strain through a thin cotton cloth. This will be the eye solution. Put one drop in each eye, morning and evening. This will remove redness and all other problems of eyes. If you do ‘Sarvangasna’ (yoga), even the spectacles could be done away with. Also eye problems could be removed by applying acupressure in between the first and second fingers of each hand and in between the first and the second toes of each foot. (Swami Ramdev)

Prevention of Brain-Related Problems: For brain longevity, try ‘Belly Breathing’ or long, slow, deep breathing. Inhale through your nose, and try to fill the base of your lungs. Let your belly come out first, and then allow the breath to come up to the mid-portion of your lungs.
Heart/Cholesterol
Heart/Cholesterol : Adopt the following in your lifestyle.
- Alfalfa sprouts have more chlorophyll than spinach or parsley. They are one of the best sources of saponins, which controls cholesterol. They also contain antioxidants that prevent DNA damage.
- Eat 2-3 garlic pearls, everyday early morning. - Brisk walking/Jogging at least 5 times a week.
- Do Anulom-Vilom deep breathing every day for 10-15 minutes.
- Do 3-story stair climbing, at least twice a day.
Reduction of cholesterol
Reduction of cholesterol: One study reported that stair climbing for 2 minutes, several times a day, could lower total cholesterol, raise good cholesterol and improve the resting pulse rate. Another study reported that eating 2-3 pieces of garlic (with a glass of water) first thing early in the morning reduces cholesterol. However, the best-proven method is to do ‘Anulom-Vilom' pranayam (deep breathing).
Longevity & Wellness Tonic

Diabetes
Diabetes: Some of the following may help.
Spices like fenugreek and cinnamon are particularly good for diabetics. "Fenugreek is hypoglycemic - has a significant impact on glucose, decreases the insulin response and is very helpful in treating diabetes," declared Krishnaswamy at the nutrition Congress. Fenugreek is high in saponins and soluble fiber, which help decrease the absorption of cholesterol from food and help lower blood glucose levels. It is also hypolipidemic - reduces body triglycerides and serum cholesterol,"
Recent studies show that cinnamon also enhances the ability of insulin to metabolize glucose, helping to control blood sugar levels. The Unites States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is working on the insulin-like properties of cinnamon.
-Eat ‘ Bell ' tree leaves.
